She/Her

Prior to becoming a Realtor, Brigitte worked as an event planner, a job that helped her to hone her negotiation and organizational skills. In that time, she also learned quite a bit about the effects of undersized HVAC systems, how to herd cats, and last minute arrangements to bring something together. It was a great primer for real estate!

Brigitte has always loved houses and decided to get licensed as a Realtor around the time she purchased her first home, a tiny 700 square feet house with an unfinished basement on a large lot. The previous owner was an electrician; almost every light in the house was on a dimmer switch. Becoming a homeowner inspired her to dig into the history of Portland houses. She learned everything from why some vintage homes have a stand alone basement toilet to the history of cement in Portland. She brings curiosity and excitement to the job and likes to troubleshoot everything from broken sewer lines to leaking oil tanks. And don't get her started on foundations!

Her perfect urban Portland day : Brigitte's perfect Portland day is when she and her family ride bikes to the Hollywood Farmers Market and get breakfast prior to buying their produce. She loves the Nourishment Breakfast Burritos and her husband and kids enjoy Gabriel’s Bakery, especially the cinnamon rolls. After the farmer’s market, they'll stop at the library and continue on to Cosmic Monkey Comics to let the kids buy a comic book or two. The afternoon will include a trip to the dog park, Fernhill’s off leash area or a drive out to the Sandy River Delta / Thousand Acres Dog park, to let her pup stretch his legs. If they head to Thousand Acres they have to make a special stop for ice cream at the Sugarpine Drive-In.

Her Superpower : She remembers people’s faces! She can’t always remember their names but she'll run into people she hasn't seen in decades and remember that they were both in the same 7th grade PE class.

Superpower she wish she had : Mind reading and being able to read a crystal ball could both be useful in real estate!

Favorite moment in real estate : Besides handing buyers their keys, her favorite moments include helping clients find specialized contractors or assisting them in picking out paint colors for their new walls. Most rewarding of all is helping homeowners figure out weird things about their older homes. A few years ago she took a client down to the City to try and learn why their 1920s home had a shared hallway attached to the house next door. They discovered that the house and the neighbors' house had once been owned by an extended family who added the hallway between the houses so they didn’t have to go out in the rain.

Favorite Portland neighborhood/why : Brigitte is from Portland and can probably find something nice to say about each quadrant in the city. But in her heart she is a NE Portland girl and Rose City Park is her very favorite neighborhood. She loves walking or biking along NE Sacramento and seeing Mt Hood over the golf course below. She also hangs out at the food cart pod on NE 60th and Halsey and will never forget that it used to be a dodgy corner market called Nicklewise. Rose City Park has a great public park, it’s easy to hop on 84 and get anywhere, and there are a lot of bike lanes. It’s just a great little pocket of Portland.
