Time to Sell?

According to a July 12th article in The Wall Street Journal, “the housing market has turned — at last.”

Recent numbers from housing price indexes, including the highly regarded Case Schiller index, indicate that we are seeing the first sustained monthly increases since the housing industry bubble went bust in 2005. 94% of housing forecasters surveyed by The Wall Street Journal believe that the housing market has reached the bottom and is starting to gain momentum.

 In May 2012 we saw 10% more existing homes sold than in May 2011 and builders began work on 26% more single family residences during that time.

We’ve still got a ways to go (check out the full article at The U.S. Housing Bust is Over ) but from here on out most economists believe that the U.S. housing bust is officially over.

And as Realtors on the ground here in close-in Portland, we agree. During the past few months we’ve seen an uptick in homes on the market and those homes that look great, are well-priced and in good locations are selling quickly, many in multiple offer situations and going at full or over-full price.
