The House That Piet & Keven Built Vol V: Renting Out Your Home Or Guest Room
About a month ago Piet and I listed our guest room for rent on AirB&B.com. Since then we have had a blast meeting people from all around the world traveling or just in town for a wedding….we even had a guest who works at Disneyland!! Last week photographer Melissa Jane Ferrell and her friend stayed with us while in town for a conference. I am so delighted about the lovely review she gave us on her blog with absolutely charming photos of our home!
Many people have asked us about our experience as hosts, especially with concerns toward safety. Vacation & short term rental websites like AirB&B and VRBO have done an excellent job of ensuring the safety and privacy of both their hosts and guests. These websites offers features such as insurance coverage for any damages or loss caused by a guest, the ability to contact a potential guest via phone or email as much as you want before accepting a booking, and complete control over your calendar and when you want to be available. AirB&B even offers a free photography program where they pay a professional photographer in your area to take photos of your space to help earn more bookings!
These websites are an excellent option for homeowners who want to use their home a vacation rental, or just to earn some spare cash from an empty guest room! Alternatively, if you are considering moving to Portland, you can visit and either rent a vacation home through VRBO, or book rooms through AirB&B in a variety of neighborhoods. This allows you to get a much better idea of what an area is like and what it has to offer than you would by staying in a hotel.
Here are some more photos from Melissa’s wonderful review of our home!
