Wow. First off, let me just say there were a lot of great houses that popped on the market this week and I wasn’t so sure I’d be able to choose just one. However, when I entered the front door at 5337 NE Cleveland (the last home on my tour) I knew this had to be it. Maybe it was the super-cool interior design or maybe it was the great street and curb appeal. Or, more likely, it was Mari the orange tabby who proved to be a very helpful tour guide (like, actually, a really good guide who showed me the path to the basement when I almost forgot to check it out).

I first met Mari sunbathing on a chair in the living room when I walked into the home. He made sure I saw how amazing the wallpaper was in the entry way and pointed out all the beautiful architectural details of the home (large bay windows, pillars, built-ins, other woodwork, etc). “He’s super chill,” the listing agent, Maria Fitzgerald, told me about Mari. In the updated and stylish kitchen, after a long belly rub and roll on the floor, he let me continue the rest of my tour.

I headed upstairs and found 3 large bedrooms and a full bath, all styled perfectly. This house looks like it came out of a design magazine article on “What Your Dream Portland Home Looks Like” and I have to bow down to the sellers for their aesthetic. Everything about the home feels fresh and updated, yet still historic, charming, and full of character from it’s original 1907 build.

“The owner of the house started Portland Flea,” Maria told me, which makes total sense after seeing how well-designed the house is (and if you haven’t checked out PDX Flea yet - do so!)

My favorite part? Besides Mari? Honestly, I have to say the entire main level. From the TWO large bay windows, the floors, the furnishings, the wallpaper, the kitchen, the banister... EVERYTHING about that main level is perfect. Or should I say, "purrfect"? If you are in the market for a home in Portland this is not one you should miss. And please tell Mari I say "hi".
