My pick this week is for all you modern architecture fans. It’s also for those who like clean lines, rooms with views, high-end finishes, rooftop decks, open spaces, minimalism, walkability, great neighborhoods, proximity to schools... should I keep going? Basically I’m saying this house has it all.
Set in the Clinton neighborhood, and just two blocks from Division Street, this place is right in the heart of Portland’s Southeast. For a foodie, this is probably the best spot in the city (Division St. has just about every type of food you could dream of). It’s also just a short walk to Ladd’s Addition, Powell Park, and Cleveland High School.
Entering the home you are met with cool concrete floors, clean white walls, beautiful wood accents, and two bedrooms and a bath on the first level. Heading up the stairs to the second level you find the entertaining space. This is where things start to get magical. Walls of windows pour in natural light and make the space feel bright, airy, and open. The kitchen (separated from the living room by an open stairway) is modern and minimal with gorgeous walnut cabinets, crisp white countertops, a large island, and high-end appliances (including a wine fridge!). This is probably one of the best kitchens I’ve seen in a while and I actually think I’d volunteer for dish duty every night just to be in there.
Once I found the strength to pull myself away from the kitchen I took the stairs up to the third level and found the master bedroom, complete with cork floors, a walk-in closet, and a spa-like bathroom (with those same amazing cabinets from the kitchen...).
At this point I am ready to move in - I’ve seen enough, I’m sold. But the house just wasn’t ready to stop showing off. I kept on with the tour and headed out a door from the master suite to a rooftop deck that led to yet ANOTHER rooftop deck up on what is now the fourth level of the home. “Super sexy!” Todd Peres, the listing agent, told me. “You’ve got 360 degree views up there. There is nothing taller on Clinton Street.” Oh, the parties I could throw here...
Like I said, this place has it all, and it’s hard for me to hone in on one particular favorite part. But, if forced to choose, I’d probably say the kitchen. I honestly just felt so at home when standing in there, and that’s what it’s all about right?
